Work note: 'Giselle' entered the Ballet Rambert repertoire in two stages: first, Act II on 31 July 1945 at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre; second, the full two-act ballet on 11 July 1946 at Sadler's Wells. In 1965, a new production premiered on 15 April at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham (it was produced by David Ellis, but he was not credited in the programme). As was customary at the time, this two-act ballet was always offered as part of a mixed bill, with a short dance work performed before or after it.
