Biography: Dancer with Ballet Rambert (later Rambert Dance Company) 1979-1980, 1983-1992; Artistic Director of Rambert Dance Company (later Rambert) 2002-2018.

Born in Fiji and educated in New Zealand, Mark Baldwin graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Auckland where his enduring interest in choreography began. He helped found Limbs Dance Company, later dancing with the New Zealand Ballet, EMMA Dance Company, and Australian Dance Theatre. Upon leaving Rambert as a dancer in 1992, Baldwin established the Mark Baldwin Dance Company, which he ran for almost 10 years.

Baldwin returned to Rambert as Artistic Director in December 2002. As a choreograher, he created 12 works for Rambert as well as works for other companies, including the Royal Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Cisne Negro (Brazil), Royal New Zealand Ballet, Berlin State Opera House and Teatro dell' Opera di Roma. Baldwin was instrumental in the capital campaign to build Rambert's purpose-built headquarters on London's South Bank (opened in 2013), as well as establishing the post of Music Fellow at Rambert as a result of his interest in choreographic development and its relationship to music.
