Charles was the Rambert Chairman from 1969 – 1984 who oversaw a period of incredible change within the company.

During his period as Chair, Charles saw Rambert transition from a traditional ballet company to a contemporary dance company based entirely on original repertoire.

Charles worked with three Rambert Artistic Directors during his time with the company and was a close personal friend to our founder Marie Rambert.

He will be missed and is remembered affectionately by all at Rambert.
