The Legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival

A brand new dance commission by Rambert’s artistic director Benoit Swan Pouffer, based on BBC drama Peaky Blinders, will be performed during The Legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival in central Birmingham on 14 and 15 September.

Rambert commissioned composer/producer Raven to rework Red Right Hand, the Peaky Blinders series theme by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. Raven’s composition intuitively responds to the narrative of Benoit Swan Pouffer’s choreography whilst upholding the sentiment of the original song.

Presented by AEG and show creator Steven Knight, The Legitimate Peaky Blinders festival will bring together immersive theatre, live music and fashion inspired by the series, a cinema showing, exclusive show previews, a museum, food, drink, poetry and much more.

This performance is commissioned by John Empson and The Legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival, which is presented by Steven Knight.

Raven

London via Margate composer, producer and multi instrumentalist Raven has collaborated with many well-respected artists including Kate tempest, Paul Weller, Mica Levi, Kwes and Bullion. His music upholds a balance between the orchestral and electronic, abstract and conventional. Parallels can be drawn with the artist Arthur Russell, in terms of his music’s diversity, creating tracks you can dance to, but also songs and music for reflection.
